Who we are
James asks all his clients to rate and review the service he provides to them on VouchedFor, a service similar to Trip Adviser, but for financial planners.
The service verifies that all reviews are genuine, giving you peace of mind that you’re in the right place if you are considering working with James and Sovereign.

Both a company Director and a Financial Planner, James has over 20 years’ experience in the banking and financial service industry. He has been an Independent Financial Adviser since 2003 and joined Sovereign in 2009.
James specialises in advising business owners and senior executives with their financial, tax and retirement planning needs. He also works in close partnership with other professionals, including lawyers, accountants and tax advisers, to deliver a streamlined service for our clients.
James enjoys the outdoors and can often be found walking his two working cocker spaniels with his wife in the countryside. He is actively involved with his local cricket club, both as a player and an administrator, and enjoys watching football and rugby.
What do James' clients have to say?
The important stuff
All regulated financial advisers must be authorised by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) and therefore appear on their register. You can find James’ entry here.
Furthermore, all advisers must have an up-to-date Statement of Professional Standing (SPS). This shows they are suitably qualified and have carried out the required amount of Continuous Professional Development (CPD). You should be wary of any advisers who refuse to provide copies of their SPS. You can click here to view James’.
James in the spotlight
On an ideal weekend you can find me:
"Playing cricket, followed by a BBQ and a bottle of wine with my wife."
My favourite holiday is:
"Skiing. I absolutely love being up in the mountains. "
The three people at my dream dinner party would be:
"Jesus, Martin Luther King and Winston Churchill."
The first album I bought was:
“U2, Under a Blood Red Sky. It was on cassette and I played it constantly on my Walkman for days.”
I turn the radio up when they play:
"Anything from the 80s."
The three qualities that draw me to new people are:
"Honesty, integrity and kindness."
The three small things that make my day better are:
"Waking up alive, walking my dogs and sleeping with a clear conscience."
